Tendring Community Energy Awarded Lottery Funding

We’re happy to announce that The National Lottery are going to fund Tendring Community Energy’s project!

We have been awarded Capacity Building funding for starting our projects to develop and lead implementation of projects that aim to reduce the impact of climate change on our community. Over the 18-month delivery period, Tendring Community Energy will:

  • 🔆Support approximately 1,500–1,700 residents, through a combination of one-to-one advice, home visits, and wider community engagement.
  • 🔆Engage 20–25 community organisations, strengthening partnerships across the district and improving pathways for vulnerable residents.
  • 🔆Provide at least 12 volunteers with practical, hands-on skills in energy advice, thermal imaging, community outreach, and household-level support.
  • 🔆Build capacity and start feasibility studies to install large scale renewable energy projects in Tendring – this will increase our community’s economic resilience and support members in their journey towards reducing their CO2 emissions whilst reducing their cost of living.
  • Our project will directly contribute to CO2 reduction by supporting residents to reduce energy consumption and adopt sustainable behaviours. This will work to not only directly support those who are most affected by rising energy costs but will work to empower those that are least aware and able to engage with climate change activity, aligning with the National Lottery Fund’s Environmental Mission. Concurrently, we will start large scale renewable energy projects with the aim of supporting our communities in becoming greener and more economically resilient. The renewable energy projects are in our medium term plan, with the long term view of producing locally generated electricity to be used mainly in our community at reduced prices, thus increasing economic resilience whilst reducing our carbon footprint

📚 We cannot wait to get started !

  • 🎯Feasibility study to help Local Charity Gardens install solar powered walkways and wind turbines to improve their surroundings for the benefit of their guests and reduce energy costs and their carbon footprint.
  • 🎯Solar and wind turbine installations across several community facilities including church halls, function centres, gardens and parks.
  • 🎯Help the most vulnerable in our community with reducing their bills and improving their health & wellbeing by ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to maintain healthy, warm and secure homes.
  • Tendring Community Energy’s hands-on model shows how small, targeted interventions can transform comfort, confidence and wellbeing for those most at risk:
